Juillet/août 2022

The IES programs are back on-site, and we are very happy that starting in May we have been able to welcome four different groups of students:

·        The Tübingen-NUS Summer School “German Language, Culture and Civilization” was a three-week tailor-made program for students from the National University of Singapore.

·        In June we hosted the CIVIS Summer School on “The Right to Disagree: Freedom of Expression, Academic Freedom, and the Populist Challenge in Europe Today.” This school was specifically made for students from our CIVIS partner universities.

·        In July and August, we offered a Summer School on “European Union Politics, Human Rights and Economics”. 18 students from all over the world came to Tübingen to study the EU, to learn German and to experience German culture.

·        In September, we welcomed 15 students from Doshisha University. They will be in Tübingen for 5 months to attend the “Doshisha EU Campus European Studies Program” which is also a tailor-made program for students from our partner university in Japan.

It is fantastic to meet international students in person again and we have already had a lot of fun going on a punting boat together, tasting local specialties and making pretzels! We would like to share some student’s impressions with you:

„Thank you, University of Tübingen for the best summer school experience I could have asked for! The staff, teachers and student guides are always so friendly, understanding and willing to help. They are definitely a big part of this whole experience being so great! I learnt much more than I would have thought from the IES Summer School in Tübingen, about the German language, the European Union and communicating with Germans. I really loved the way classes were conducted in an engaging and enriching manner, and the teachers were very knowledgeable about the subject topics. The atmosphere in Tübingen never failed to make all of us at home…! … Definitely come to Tübingen if you would like to experience the warmth and homeliness of Germany (and learn a lot)!“
