We invite you to join THE HERDS, an extraordinary artistic and ecological odyssey!
Imagine life-size puppets of wild animals traveling 20,000 km from the Congo Basin to the Arctic Circle, embodying the climatic migration of endangered species.
A monumental performance, a poetic cry of alarm in the face of ecological urgency.
An immersive, itinerant show that will travel through 11 countries, including France, with stops in Arles and Marseille.
From June 9 to 15 inclusive, we're looking for 110 participants to handle these life-size animal puppets, for artistic events in Arles and Marseille.
The training is free and immersive: you'll benefit from a 28-hour training course (4 days x 7 hours) run by Ukwanda Puppets& Designs Art Collective, a company based in Cape Town (South Africa).
You'll learn to manipulate animal puppets, made from recycled materials: wildebeest, zebra, cheetah, gazelle, chimpanzee, wolf, deer...
📅 June 9 to 12: Training (10am-6pm, 1h break)
Day 1: Introduction to puppetry & discovering your animal
Day 2: Performance techniques & individual behavior
Day 3: Deeper understanding of animal behavior
Day 4: Interactions between species & dress rehearsal
🎭 June 13 to 15: Artistic performances in Arles and Marseille

Who can apply? Young artists and students
Good physical condition is required.
No puppetry experience is necessary, but an interest in movement, dance, circus, theater or sports is an asset.
Commitment to the entire training and performance period is mandatory.
