L1 Economics - International program in business and management (IPEM)

The International Program in Business and Management (IPEM) is a 3-year Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management, taught entirely in English, with a compulsory semester of mobility in the third year, in one of the FEG's foreign partner universities. It requires students to take an active, reflective approach to the construction of their Bachelor's degree training project.
The IPEM pathway in the Economics and Management Bachelor's degree thus offers the acquisition of a genuine field of expertise in economics and management, combining reflection and technicality.

At the end of the three-year program, students will be familiar with :

• the main theories of economics, with the ability to identify their main trends and authors
• Important historical and contemporary social and economic facts and events
• The different functions, organization and development models of the firm, and the different strategies that enable them to be established, in relation to the competitive context of markets and the economic, financial, legal and political-administrative environment.
• The fundamental accounting tools of the firm; some of the quantitative tools of mathematics and probability, statistics, econometrics and computer science to aid economic and management analysis.

The IPEM pathway develops three skills during the first year of the bachelor's degree:

• Understanding the objectives of players, firms and organizations
• Understanding the environment of actors, firms and organizations
• Developing cross-disciplinary skills

Who can apply?

This degree course is aimed at general baccalaureate holders. It is essential that students in Première and Terminale choose combinations of specialties in which mathematics is still taught, either as a speciality (Mathematics in Première and ideally Terminale), or as an option (Complementary or Expert Mathematics). Students will need to demonstrate the development of independent thinking, analytical skills, writing skills and rigorous reasoning. It is also very important that students have a good command of the English language, acquired for example through European sections or secondary education in English. The ability to adapt to a variety of learning situations, including working independently, but also supervised group work and taking initiative, are important assets for the success of candidates in this Bachelor's degree.

How do I apply?

In this pathway, students are guaranteed the opportunity to pursue their studies abroad, in the 1st or 2nd semester of the 3rd year of their Bachelor's degree.

Internships, which are optional and subsidized, are available in every year of the Economics and Management degree program.
Tutored projects and independent work, either individually or in groups, are offered every semester and contribute to the assessment of skills acquired during the program.

The first-year IPEM pathway enables students to continue their studies in the 2nd year of IPEM.

The procedure depends on whether you currently live in France:

• If you live outside France in a country covered by the "Études en France" procedure (such as Brazil), you should apply through the Études en France platform managed by Campus France in your country.

Are certified translations required for my diploma and transcripts, and are there any additional documents I should prepare now?

• For applicants who obtained their secondary-school qualification abroad, transcripts must be provided in English. If your diploma and transcripts are issued in another language, you will need to provide certified translations into English, together with copies of the original documents. Official documents issued directly in English by your school are also accepted.
• The exact list of required documents depends on the application procedure that applies to you (Parcoursup, Études en France or DAP), so please also check the requirements of the relevant platform.

What qualifications do I need to be admitted to the first year (L1)?

To be admitted to L1, you must hold, by the start of the programme, a qualification that gives access to higher education. This can be the French baccalauréat or a foreign qualification considered equivalent, such as a recognised secondary-school completion diploma from your country, or a set of A Levels considered equivalent to the baccalauréat.
You may apply before obtaining your final diploma: any offer of admission will then be conditional on successfully completing it before enrolment. The final decision on equivalence rests with the admissions committee.

How do I apply? Should I use Parcoursup or Études en France?

The application procedure depends on your nationality and your country of residence, not only on your qualifications.

• Parcoursup is the national platform for first-year admission in France. It is used, among others, by French and EU/EEA applicants, as well as by applicants who hold or are preparing the French baccalauréat.
• Études en France (Campus France) is generally used by non-EU applicants who live in one of the countries covered by this procedure, such as Brazil.

Is proof of English or French language proficiency required?

• No, an English level equivalent to that of the French Baccalauréat is sufficient, and no certificate is required.
• No French language proficiency level is required.
   

What are the mathematics prerequisites?

• Mathematics as a specialized subject in the first year of the French general upper secondary school (Première), and ideally also in the final year (Terminale), potentially supplemented by Advanced Mathematics (Mathématiques expertes), or, alternatively, the optional course Mathematics for Further Study (Mathématiques complémentaires).
