You'll find all the essential information in the Presentation on international study mobility for the year 2025/26 and review the presentation meeting at Erasmus Days 2025.
Before going abroad, it's important to think carefully about your mobility project. This means asking the right questions: why go, where, how and with what means?
Study mobility means :
> Being able to spend a semester or a year studying in a partner institution abroad (in or outside Europe).
> Remaining enrolled at AMU (even if you're away for a whole year) and therefore paying only AMU registration fees.
> Be accompanied and supervised by AMU and your host institution
> Benefit from financial support for your international mobility project.
Study mobility
You go to a partner university for a semester or a year, while validating your ECTS credits. This can be done via :
-
Erasmus+ (Europe),
The Erasmus+ program enables you to study or do an internship in another European country for a period of 2 to 12 months maximum per study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate). This means, for example, that you can study for up to 12 months during your Bachelor's degree, and again for up to 12 months during your Master's degree.
-
Bilateral agreements (outside Europe)
A bilateral university agreement is a formal partnership between two higher education establishments in different countries, designed to promote student, academic or scientific mobility.
What to look out for
1. It's for next year (N+1)
You're applying this year to go abroad the following academic year. You need to prepare your project in advance, as early as the 1st semester. To do this, you need to contact your course coordinator for the mobility year and check that your project fits in with your curriculum.
2. Budget matters
Mobility costs money (travel, accommodation, living expenses, etc.). There are grants (Erasmus+, AMU grants, regional grants), but they don't cover everything. You need to assess your expenses carefully and draw up a financing plan.
3. Check your language requirements
Test your language level for mobility
As part of your Erasmus+ mobility, you have the opportunity to take a language test before your departure (in the language of your courses or exchanges as part of your internship), but also throughout your mobility, in order to assess your progress and take language courses.
This language test is carried out on the EU Academy platform . Access to this platform is free!
Depending on your destination, your host university may ask you to take a language test in English, Spanish or another language. It's important to find out in advance, as proof (test, attestation) may be required.
Whatever the destination, we strongly advise you to take a TOEIC or TOEFL-type test for English.
Consult the destination catalog to check the specific requirements of each university.
A few guidelines :
- TOEFL: approx. €220
- IELTS: approx. €232
Take the TOEIC with AMU: https://www.univ-amu.fr/fr/public/toeic
If a language test is not required, a certificate from your FEG English teacher attesting to a B2 level is accepted. You can also provide a Go Fluent (access to amULangues on ENT, free test in 20 minutes) or a Duolingo test.
Some destinations require a level of Spanish, Italian or Portuguese. Please enquire and include a Go Fluent certificate in your application.
4. Check academic requirements
Some partners ask for a high grade point average, but internationally it's often a GPA (Grade Point Average) that's required.
Here's an unofficial tool to help you calculate your GPA: https://amubox.univ-amu.fr/s/8N3boWCsY3rGKTr
