Master 1 Economics of Law

The aim of the Master of Law Economics is to offer an interdisciplinary training allowing students to acquire a double competence in law and economics. These two disciplines are increasingly interacting both in the economic world (corporate life, business, economic policy, regulation) and in legal expertise or research (for many branches of law or the economic analysis of institutions).

The mention allows for specialisation through three courses, including the Business, Law and Economics course (Erasmus + label, entirely in English) offered by the Faculty of Economics and Management, which focuses on the economic analysis of law, Distribution, Competition, which prepares students for legal professions in the retail sector, and Economic Law, training for excellence in research in business law, for students who intend to pursue an academic career, and high-level generalist training for future lawyers.

For all programs :

• knowledge of the main tools of economic analysis (microeconomics, game theory, behavioural analysis, econometrics, statistics)
• economic analysis of market dynamics (innovation, use of new technologies, platforms, public-private partnerships, banking and financial markets)
• knowledge of areas of law relevant to the business world (insolvency, industrial, literary and artistic property, taxation, business contracts, banking and finance)

Who can apply?

This course is generally aimed at 1) any student wishing to enrich his or her initial course (law or economics) by discovering a related discipline, but also 2) students who have followed a double degree course at the bachelor's level who will find a natural extension to their undergraduate studies, 3) students aiming for a postgraduate degree, and finally 4) those who intend to pursue a career requiring more than just technical knowledge.

Access to M1: Bachelor's degree in law or economy- management or equivalent degree, VAE.

The M1 is a core curriculum common to the three courses of the mention which is co-ported by 2 institutions: the Faculty of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Law and Political Science.

It is designed to be accessible to students coming from economics, management or law degrees. It allows direct access to the three courses of the degree and to apply for an Erasmus Mundus M2. The Business, Law and Economics course is part of a consortium labelled Erasmus Mundus +. Around twenty foreign students join the course in semester 4 and the teaching is all in English.

The course benefits from an academic partnership (Erasmus + consortium) with the law departments of the universities of Hamburg, Rotterdam, Gent, Haifa, Vienna and Pompeu Fabra and the economics departments of the Warsaw School of economics, the Indira Gandhi Institute for Economic Research and development (Mumbai) and LUMSA (Rome).

Students have the opportunity to carry out an internship as of Master 1 in order to put them in contact with the professional world and enable them to choose their course with greater knowledge of the facts.
